Further Diagnosis

The most important diagnostic method for lung diseases is first and foremost the chest x-ray. This should be done in two different views. A further diagnostic method is the computer tomography of the lungs which can be performed with or without the application of contrast media. In case of a doubt, a CT-guided biopsy of the lesion can be obtained to confirm the diagnosis. These examinations should be able to answer the following questions before a therapy:

1. Are we dealing with one or multiple metastases?
2. The largest metastasis?
3. Are there metastases in other organs as well?
4. What is the general condition of the lung (past operations, emphysema etc.)?
