Therapy

The best treatment method is discussed after proper diagnoisis:

1. Operative resection of lung metastases
2. Systemic Chemotherapy
3. Local treatment methods:

• Laser therapy
• Radio frequency ablation
• Local chemotherapy for lung metastases followed by Chemoembolisation

Although operative extraction of metastases provides the best chances of cure, one must take into consideration the possible complications and opening of the thoracic cage.

Laser therapy - the procedure:

1. Diagnostic computer tomography.
2. After local anaesthesia the metastasis is explored using a laser or high frequency needle. This causes a thermal destruction of the metastases which usually lasts about 15 to 30 minutes.
3. After that the laser-needle system is completely removed.
4. Post procedural observation for 6-8 hours.
5. Follow-up examination after 24 hours.
