Affect of Ozone
Affect of Ozone - its affect in the intervertebral disc
- The chemonucleolysis with ozone uses a colourless, strong smelling, unstable gas ozone (O3) with large oxidation capacity. The ozone is produced from oxygen using a ozone generator.
- Better vascularisation and reduction of inflammation of the diseased area through oxygenation of the inflammotory and pain mediators.
- The direct affect of ozone on the centre of the vertebral disc (nucleus pulposus) through reduction of water content and hence reduction of volume of vertebral disc which compresses the nerve root.
- Betterment of microcirculation and oxygen supply through reduction of venous pressure because the disc material causes a mechanical compression of the blood vessel.
